Name Kathryn Age 32 Pronouns She/Her Timezone CST
About.
I've been roleplaying off and on for roughly two decades. I have past experience with journal-style rp on InsaneJournal, but it was a decade ago. I'm new to Dreamwidth, so please bear with me while I refresh myself on how journal-rp works and how DWRP, specifically, works.
Noteworthy Things.
Age. As a person in my thirties, I will not write with players who are younger than 21+. My preference will always be to interact with people closer to my own age.

My characters are all 25+, and it's my preference that characters interacting with mine be 21+. I will not interact with characters or players aged 20 or younger.

Barrier Bleed. While I do enjoy having a platonic, ooc connection with the people I write with, it isn't necessary. However, I am not open to ooc romance even if our characters become involved in that way. Further, if our characters are enemies, it doesn't mean we have to be. Not every character will get along, and it isn't a reflection of whom we are or how we feel ooc if our characters harbor ill will toward each other.

Communication. I work best when people are direct with me about what they want. I am not a mind reader, and I don't easily pick up on hints. I can handle directness so long as it's approached with kindness rather than derision, and I give that in return.

If I have missed something, please, just be forthright with me, and we'll do a great job of writing together.

Writing Style. I prefer to write in third person, but I'm open to either past or present tense depending on partner preferences. I've seen some writing with brackets in DW, but my preference is to write in prose-style. However, I'm open to doing things that help with accessibility like enlarging dialogue or other things to aid my partners.

Beyond that, I tend to prefer a fluid style of writing for rp. Snappy dialogue shouldn't be weighed down by paragraphs of text around it. However, I do love to set a scene and to keep track of how characters are moving through space. I can get pretty wordy at times, so I'll do my best to keep myself reined in when it's getting to be a bit much. I also try to play off of my partners' styles, too.

I love to plot base points for arcs with a bit of pantsing for what's actually going down. I don't really enjoy big surprises. If you're the kind of writer who prefers to run the show and lead their partners down a path but don't really want any input that could derail that path, then our writing may not be the most compatible. I love having a basis, but if something comes up in rp that changes what was planned, I think it's really fun to just run with it and try out the new ideas that our characters ended up pushing toward in the moment. Let's work together to build connections and adventures!

Hazel Foxbell
an original character
alias: Hazel Foxbell (true name given only to specific people) age: Appears to be in her late twenties or early thirties
sexuality: Fluid gender: Female
Relationship Style: Polyamory species: Human, probably
"Hazel Foxbell may not be my given name, but it is the name by which you may address me. If you're here, you've heard something of my nature or of me. Whether you seek the perfect floral arrangement to express yourself, a magical sachet to help you achieve your designs, or a few ingredients missing from your personal spell works, it comes as no surprise that I am whom you have found."

INFJ-A

Idealistic and principled, Advocates aren't content to coast through life - they want to stand up and make a difference. For these personalities, success doesn't come from money or status but from seeking fulfillment, helping others, and being a force for good in the world.

While they have lofty goals and ambitions, Advocates shouldn’t be mistaken for idle dreamers. People with this personality type care about integrity, and they’re rarely satisfied until they’ve done what they know to be right. Conscientious to the core, they move through life with a clear sense of their values, and they aim never to lose sight of what truly matters – not according to other people or society at large, but according to their own wisdom and intuition.

Six Traits: Creative. Curious. Insightful. Passionate. Perfectionist. Private.

Motivations: Curiosity, Regret, Self-actualization.

Handling Conflict: Hazel is the type of woman who will first attempt to have a rational discussion in which both parties are given space to speak their truths and come to a compromise. If that fails, she will withdraw herself from the person and situation instead. She needs time to process, and it can be difficult for her to open up. She isn't exactly stubborn, but it can be difficult for her to have her beliefs challenged. She would rather someone believe they've 'won' an argument than waste her time and energy with someone she believes is not trying to build a bridge.

height: 5'8" hair: Long, wavy, dark brown
build: Slim eyes: Large, dark brown
features: Wide, well defined, full lips. Strong jaw. Long nose.
First Impressions: On first impression, one might attribute a sharpness to Hazel. Her bone structure is strong, angular with well-defined features. Her dark gaze may seem keen, searching almost into the depths of one's soul. A touch to the shoulder or arm could give the idea of openness, but it would soon become apparent that she offers little else of herself initially.

Fashion: Hazel tends to wear loose, flowing outfits that wrap around her body, especially when she's in cities, at home, or in her shop. When gardening or foraging, she tends toward tight-fitting trousers. Unless it's cold, she will typically wear tops that show her arms. Her jewelry tends toward gold, and she loves colorful gemstones. She favors bright, floral colors though she rarely wears patterned materials. Instead, she opts for interesting textures to her clothing and interesting jewelry to add interest.

"Sorrow is not a raven perched persistently above a chamber door. Sorrow is a thing with teeth, and while in time it retreats, it comes back at the whisper of it's name."
Hazel Foxbell speaks little of her past, but when she does, a sadness reflects in her eyes. She is open about being born of ravens, but surely she only means she was born among those whose totem is that bird. After all, there doesn't seem to be any indication that she's anything more or less than human. Sure, there's a little magic in her aura, but it shouldn't be enough to shapeshift.

Otherwise, she's happy only to speak on her floriography studies, how enamored she's been with foliage since her youth. Flowers especially have always seemed to carry messages whether anyone cared to hear them or not. So she was happy to stay aground and pick through them, learning their associations and their properties.

Few know why she left her people. Easy speculation is curiosity about the world beyond her little village of ravens and wolves. Some suppose she must have done something terrible to bring about her exile. Hazel won't speak on it, at least not without a strong connection to someone and perhaps a drink or two to ease her into openness.

If one presses her, she may tell them the past is history, and the present is where all concerns should lie. For now, she helps people with communicating their more ardent feelings without having to speak a word. She helps a person's intentions call out to the universe itself. And isn't there joy and satisfaction to be had in that?

Archery
Dagger Wielding
Floriography
Herbalism
Spellcrafting
Archery: While not exactly a master, her people did teach her something of using a recurve bow and arrows to hit a mark.

Dagger Wielding: She knows enough about this to hold her own in hand to hand combat. She learned this among her community, and she was taught greater skill with it after she left. She always has a small blade of some kind handy.

Floriography: The language of flowers. Hazel has spent a large chunk of her life learning proper correspondences associated with specific plant-life, especially flowers. She helps prepare floral arrangements that say so much more than, "Here are some pretty flowers to look at."

Herbalism: Part of her correspondence work led her, naturally, down the path of learning the properties of plants. While her knowledge would be a poor substitute for that of true healers, she does know how to help with simpler remedies.

Spellcrafting: With her herbs and flowers, Hazel crafts magical sachets for others with instructions on use. Most are typical spells for love, confidence, or luck (her best sellers). Every so often, she will craft something more intensive, but those typically require more time, more focus, and more complex rituals.

Abilities

❀ Floriography & Herbalism

Hazel has studied flower languages for the majority of her life and is skilled at creating whole sentiments with a floral arrangement. Part of her skills with floriography extend into understanding the medicinal properties of plant life. While she cannot qualify as a proper healer, she knows a thing or two about simple remedies.

❀ Spellcrafting

Hazel makes teas and sachets for people with magical properties. Sometimes, they're kits for others' spellwork. Sometimes, they're a spell in and of themselves. While she would not quite classify herself as a witch, some of the rituals, prayers, and practices that go into her spellcraft are very reminiscent of those who classify themselves by that terminology.

❀ Social Intuition

This is situational and intermittent, but Hazel can pick up traces of a person's state of being by being around them for a moment. This helps her gain an understanding of what they might need. This could be played as her simply being observant, especially if a character is very animated in how they present themselves. We can definitely discuss ahead of time whether you're comfortable with her picking up this sort of thing (or if she would even be capable of doing so) with your character(s).

Out-of-Character

❀ Backtagging

Yes! I tend to be a slower poster, and I'm relatively busy. Being able to start/resume/continue older threads is good in my opinion.

❀ Fourthwall

If I understand this term correctly, this is fine for HMD's and memes, but I would prefer all fourth wall breaks to not be canonical. I don't particularly enjoy when a character understands they're a mun's creation instead of believing they exist as their own, autonomous being in their own stories (i.e. Deadpool). If it means ooc discussion during ic writing, I'd prefer to keep that separate from ic posts.

❀ Off-Limits

At this time, I only know I have zero interest in pregnancy-related arcs. There's nothing wrong with their discussing it, but I don't personally enjoy writing about pregnancy or child rearing.

Other things may come up later, but for now, I can't think of anything. I reserve the right to set boundaries with new information, and I hope you'll set your own boundaries as well.

❀ Other

I'm still learning how to use DreamWidth and immersing myself into the culture. Please, bear with me and try to be patient while I stumble along this path.

In-Character

❀ Physical Contact

Yes! She's a very touch-focused person in platonic situations. Sexual touch should be reserved for characters who have developed their relationship in that direction (unless we're writing for a random meme). If you would like your character to have more intimate contact with Hazel, let me know.

❀ Mental Contact

This could be dependent on what sachets she's carrying on her person and how deep it goes. I'm not opposed, but let's discuss this ahead of time!

❀ Flirt

Always acceptable in both directions. Let's discuss ahead of time if it's meant to go deeper into shipping territory.

❀ Fight

While I would not necessarily consider her the strongest fighter, she does have some small skill with a bow and arrows. She also knows a bit more about wielding a dagger in melee fights. It might be interesting for her to develop more skill with both or either of these styles through rp.

❀ Injury

I'd prefer she not be maimed for life at this time (perhaps in the future once I've gotten to know her as she is), but I am open to her being hurt and acquiring some scars here and there.

❀ Death

Not at this time, please. I'd like to get to know her a lot better before I consider killing her off. I'm open to her experiencing deaths that aren't her own as that could be interesting to write. She could also potentially come close to death or cause a death or something along those lines.

❀ Other

Hazel's magic is focused in her floriography and sachet-making. Let's discuss if that might have an affect on how our characters interact.
